Deaf
Awareness Week culminated in the final event,
"DEAFEST" a street fair with loads of great entertainment,
exhibits and info. Needless to say I met some great people.
Including Garfield, the Deaf clown and Rosemary, Miss Deaf New
York. |

A highlight of
the event was a mime group called "Toys from Russia".
They held the whole crowd spellbound with their imaginative street
performance

On my
trip to New York to visit my brother Ed, I made my trip into the
Big Apple for a little business and pleasure. On September 20 I
did some interpreting for NYSD (New York Society for the Deaf).
They provide me work with a phone call anytime I am around New York.
After the assignment I made it to the open house at NYSD where I
got an extensive tour of the facilities by the executive director
Pearl Johnson
