-
CODA / INTERPRETER
-
Michael
Doyle was born in Kalamazoo, Michigan in 1957 to Deaf parents.
His parents were both graduates of Michigan School for the
Deaf in Flint, Michigan. Sign language (ASL)was his first
language.
Being CODA ( Children of Deaf Adults) Michael has exercised
his birthright interpreting for the Deaf community beginning
with his parents and continuing to this day. Mike has spent
his lifetime within the Deaf culture and community.

region and further accomodating the
needs of the Deaf. In addition to this, Doyle has served 4
1/2 years as an educational interpreter in the
Kalamazoo Public School System. As an educational interpreter,
Michael has served Deaf youth from lower elementary to secondary
levels of learning, in numerous mainstream environments. He
has also been involved with student IEP's, conferences, and
all related school functions and activities. He has interpreted
a large scope of Deaf activities; domestic, educational, professional
and social .Within that framework, he encounters a wide variety
of everyday needs.

Although
Michael is a certified interpreter, he feels that his involvement
within a Deaf family and subsequently the Deaf community,
overrides mandated certification and creates a personal bridge
to his Deaf friends and clients. This background provides
a much more comfortable platform for communication.
-
Along
with his interaction and visibility in Deaf clubs, Michael
has been both a player and coach for the local Deaf teams
and attends and supports regional Deaf athletic programs.
